Common use

A-Ret Gel is primarily used for managing acne vulgaris, a common skin condition. This medicine belongs to the class of topical retinoids, which are derived from vitamin A. In addition to its primary use, this gel can also be used for other conditions. It aids in the healing of sun-damaged skin and helps smoothen rough facial skin. Furthermore, it can reduce fine wrinkles and assist in the management of acute promyelocytic leukaemia.

Dosage and direction

Ensure your skin is clean and dry before application. Apply a thin layer of the gel once daily, preferably at bedtime. Avoid contact with your eyes, mouth, and mucous membranes. Wash your hands thoroughly before and after applying the gel. Remember, during the initial weeks of use, your acne may appear to worsen as the medication works on lesions forming beneath the skin surface. Improvements are usually seen after 8–12 weeks of regular use. Always consult your doctor for personalized advice regarding its use.

Precautions

Contraindications

If you are allergic to vitamin A derivatives or fish proteins, use A-Ret Gel with caution. Always inform your doctor about any allergies you may have.
Eczema: Applying the gel on eczematous skin can potentially cause severe irritation.
Sunburn: The gel should be used cautiously on sunburned skin as it may lead to further irritation.

Possible side effect

Missed dose

If you forget to apply A-Ret Gel, do it as soon as you remember. However, if it's nearly time for your next application, skip the missed one and continue with your regular schedule. Don't double your dosage without asking your doctor first.

Overdose

If you accidentally apply more A-Ret Gel than directed, it may cause symptoms such as skin redness, dryness, and peeling. If these symptoms persist or worsen, inform your doctor.

Storage

Keep A-Ret Gel in a cool and dry place where the temperature stays below 25°C. Avoid direct exposure to sunlight and heat, as it can affect the medicine's effectiveness. Always keep the tube tightly closed to prevent air or moisture from entering. Ensure the medicine is kept out of reach of children.
